So I was on Etsy's Front page yesterday...

...but being me, I totally missed it:) This post will show you how I discovered that fact and includes some helpful links to nifty Etsy Apps & Tools.

Our Mucha inspiredArt Nouveau Elven Headdress was featured on Etsy's front page yesterday afternoon! I totally missed it, but thanks to the My Etsy Facebook Application it was automatically posted on my profile, so I knew something was up.

I was still a bit mystified as to how/where I was featured so I did a bit of detective work. First I checked on Twitter - sure enough, one of my friends had sent an @reply telling me she saw me there (Thank you jenniferdarezzo.etsy.com).

At that point I had been down enough rabbit trails for the day so didnt do any more sleuthing til this evening when I suddenly remembered Craft Cult. They have a lot of fun things on the site, including The Vault, which has an archive of all Etsy front pages searchable by member name and date- quite a handy thing!! I checked and sure enough there it was...they also have a cute little widget thingie which is how I posted the list here for you to see. (TIP: click on the widget to go to the vault page- from there you can click to access the individual listings if you are interested:)

Its amazing how many handy tools there are out there for internet craft sellers- I hope some of these come in handy for you. I will be featuring a few more in the coming weeks here on my blog so stay tuned;)

Lorriane's Wedding

Ian finally finished the tiara for his daughter, Lorraine. She is getting married in a Scottish Castle, complete with kilts, bagpipes and maybe even a ghost or two...

Lorraine wanted a sort of goth but not too goth look, and we were delighted to find these gorgeous ivy leaf charms at one of our favorite bead suppliers. Ian worked forever to modify the leaves so they would work in the design, but it was well worth the effort!!

This design also has an optional Celtic Weave band that can be added:

THIS IS NOW AVAILABLE IN MY ETSY SHOP:

Etsy Bloggers: Featured This Month

I have just joined the Etsy Blogger street team (now that I am a professional blogger, lol). Im just learning all the ropes, but was delighted to find that this months featured blogger was Tulips Talking - the VERY blog where I discovered the Etsy Blogger's street team in the first place:)

She hails from sunny Florida and I think that is reflected in her bright sunny designs, mixed with cool ocean blues...I love this necklace! If you get a minute, do visit her delightful blog and be sure to stop by one or both of her Etsy Shops: Tulips Treasure Box is her main shop & for a limited time her former shop Octahedron is still open as well

Of Fairy Doors and Elven Enchantments...

I just got notice that my Fairy Bower Ear Cuff has been featured in a new treasury curated by Jewel Divas on Etsy. I thought I would pass this one along since it has some of my favorite fantasy artists included...its up til Tuesday, so please pop in and have a look:

Elven (Elvish, Elf?) Ear Couture

So just what IS the proper term for something belonging to an Elf? Elven, Elvish, just Elf? I have always thought that Elvish more referred to the language and Elven would be correct in the above title...if anyone has an opinion, please feel free to weigh in:-)

ANYWAY...I recently discovered that my earcuffs are a wonderful accessory for Elven costumes as a way to conceal the "seams" on ear additions. My new friend Ammie from The Gilded Quill on Etsy was kind enough to send me some photos of her new cuffs in action, and I wanted to share them with you here!

Ammie is a bookbinder extraordinaire and her Etsy shop is full of wonderful journals, wands, faerie lights and other magickal accouterments. For even more of her delightful magick-ing, you can also visit her website: www.gildedquill.net

Both pieces are available in my Etsy shop Thyme2dream.

She is wearing my Lothlorien Spring Forest Ear Cuff on the bottom

and the Lothlorien Crystal Forest Ear Cuff on the top of her ear.

Titania's Dream: Work In Progress

I am honored to announce that one of my favortite Etsy artists, Ida M W Larsen, aka Mizzdraconia is working on a new painting of Titania, featuring jewelry from my Crystal Forest Collection

She recently sent photos from her model shoot to update me on the progress, and kindly gave me permission to post them here in my blog:

In the photos, Ida is wearing my Lothlorien Crystal Forest Tiara, Bracelet, Necklace and also my Midsummer Night Fairy Arm Cuff

I am so excited about this project...it is fun to have my work included in another fantasy artist's piece, and fascinating to follow Ida as she goes through the creative process!

Ida's work has been featured in such publications as Heavy Metal Magazine, Art Scene International,Imagine FX Magazine, Photoshop Creative Magazine and Forbidden Whispers Magazine. In her shop on Etsy, she features prints of many of her pieces as well as fun and functional jewelry and other sudries with her artwork.

You can also see her work on her own website: Ida-Larsen-art.com

UPDATE: Here is a link to the completed print in her Etsy Shop: The Frog Princess
It ended up not being Titania, but a gorgeous piece nonetheless:)

Danu, Queen of the Sidhe: A Fae Celtic Crown

I have so much fun naming our new creations!! This crown was designed by Ian so my only contribution to the fun was telling the story:). I decided this one looked quite ancient with a truely earthy elegance, so I named it the Danu crown. In Irish legend, the goddess Danu was queen of all Sidhe (faerie folk).. her legend spread throughout Celtic Europe, the Danube river was even named after her. The Tuatha Dé Danann or "people of the goddess Danu" are a race of people in Irish Mythology, and the legends of Danu are most prevelent in that tradition.

This has been a very popular design~our first customer was a very talented British artist who found us on Etsy. Emily Carding designed the lovely Tarot of the Sidhe, and we were extremely honoured when she chose the Danu crown to wear in her handfasting! I was also delighted when she sent along these wonderful photos of her special day...just look at that gorgeous dress!!:

Emily's work can be found on Etsy at www.SidheTarot.etsy.com and also on her own website www.childofavalon.com. Thanks Em for sending the photos:-)!

We recently were asked to do a silver version of the Danu crown, and include Carribean opal Swarovski crystals to coordinate with a bride's necklace and earrings...here are photos of my lovely niece modeling the result:

The Danu crown in silver or gold can be customised with any Swarovski crystal colour...at last count they have over 250 colours available, so this gives you a wide range of choices!

We have this and other crowns, circlets and tiaras now for sale in both Thyme2dream.etsy.com and my new DaWanda Thyme2dream shop. Ian also has some exclusive circlet designs in his newly renamed Dragon Rider Circlets shop on Etsy.

Oh boy~ Etsy front Page!!

Danish artist Ida M W Larsen, aka Mizzdraconia is one of my favorite artists on Etsy, and I was honored to be included in her latest treasury "I Got the Blues". I thought when looking at it that it might just be Front Page material, and sure enough it was front and center there this morning! In addition to being thrilled that my Rivendell Spring Earcuffs were included, I was amazed at the talented artists she included, and heartily recommend everyone pop in and have a look at the treasury while it is still up and running (until noon tomorrow~ Friday, June 27) Here is a screen shot to give you a bit of a taste:

I first met Ida when she purchased a set of my Crystal Forest jewelry to use in a future illustration of Titania. I visited her shop and was delighted by her wonderful view of the realm of fantasy. Her work has been featured in such publications as Heavy Metal Magazine, Art Scene International,Imagine FX Magazine, Photoshop Creative Magazine and Forbidden Whispers Magazine. In her shop on Etsy, she features prints of many of her pieces as well as fun and functional jewelry and other sudries with her artwork...here is a bit of a sample of work she has for sale at present (click on any photo to visit her Etsy shop):

A Midsummer Night's Dream: FAE Exhibition

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in"
~William Shakespeare
A Midsummer Night's Dream

I love this time of year!! Midsummer brings thoughts of moonlit fairy parties in the woods and Titania's famous dream. Fantasy Artists of Etsy have made this the theme of their June Exhibition. Three of my Lothlorien pieces are featured, along with other magical fae creations...if you are a faery and fantasy fan, pop over and have a look:)
