Fairy Delightful Cherry Blossom Ear Cuff

Im a busy little elf this year, so I havent had much time to work on new designs, except when asked by a customer (THANK YOU!!:-)...here is a new creation I made for a customer in Japan to match a fuchsia earring she had. I wasnt too sure about the pink (pink scares me a little bit, but so far my experiences with it have turned out okay, lol) but this one is now my favorite new design:)

Yes- it is available for sale HERE

Breath of Heaven

The Breath of Heaven ear cuff is one of my older designs, but I thought I would feature it because (in case you hadnt noticed;) I love Christmas!!

This ear cuff was originally created to bless a very special Christian wisewoman friend of mine when she became an elder. I was also inspired by a lovely Christmas song called Breath of Heaven, which speaks to me of Mary's transition from Maiden to Mother by the 'breath of heaven'

The design features a Lapis Lazuli drop. Lapis is the sapphire of biblical writings and it is said in Jewish legends that the Torah was given to Moses on tablets of this stone...it has thus come to represent the Word of God and, by association, the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).

I also included garnet to represent redemption, amethyst for the royal priesthood of the believer and a heart of rainbow moonstone to signify Light and the delight of the new covenant announced by the angels as "Peace on Earth".

Spirals were often used in ancient Celtic artwork, and represent journeys of the spirit.

This cuff is still available in my Etsy Shop, but may not be for much longer..I am almost out of the gorgeous moonstone heart beads and havent been able to find a new source for them. (If any of my beady friends know where I can find them please let me know:)

Not Yer Granny's Edinburgh

Sort of a Wordless Wednesday..but My DH will tell you Im never wordless!

Edinburgh is my favorite city in the world, and I have some other lovely photos of it...quite like picture postcards actually. These however are the interesting ones!

We just survived one of the weirdest months I have ever been through..I promise to do a blog post on it once I get all caught up with things, but just to give you a preview, my wild October included Ian being stuck in Edinburgh unable to get back home due to a green card issue. That's been sorted now, he's home (YAY!!), and I can look back and happily recall the last time I got to visit Scotland. These photos were taken when I was there with Ian in 2005. You can click on the photo to go to the original Tabblo- that will allow you to read the very cool captions I wrote;)

Art Nouveau Elven Headdress

I'm so excited about how this Arwen inspired Elven Headdress turned out..My sister took some in a big hurry photos tonight (wish my in a hurry photos looked THAT good!) and I just couldn't wait to post them.

This piece is truly a collaboration- I came up with an idea based on a request from a customer...Ian designed the gorgeous celtic weave base, my niece Alicia designed the bead strands (and is the model in these photos;), and I added my crystal flower arrangements and put it all together. My sister did the photos- she is so good she made even these rushed ones look great!

Tomorrow we will try to get some daylight shots- the bead strands are full of swarovski crystals and we really want to get some of the amazing sparkle in the photos.

UPDATE: These are now made to order!! I can even customize the colours for you if you like. Now available in the Nouveau Wedding collection in my ArtFire Shop

The Fae Come to call

Oh I am SO chuffed...my new friend Gini, aka www.Jess8Cass2.etsy.com sent photos of her adorable girls in their Halloween costumes- complete with Jewelry by yours truly. I knew these costumes were going to be delightful just from her description and I was not disappointed. Cassandra & Jessica look absolutely adorable..and look like they were born fae as well (the ears look so REAL)!

Their mum is a talented Chain Maille designer who I met at the Etsy Chainmaillers & Wire Artisans virtual trunk show a while back....this is my favorite piece from her shop (and since my family reads my blog, YES, it is on my Christmas wishlist;) Click the photo to be taken to the Etsy listing for this piece, or CLICK HERE for her Etsy storefront.

The Gypsy Starchild and the Bohemian Wraps

My whole venture into jewelry started with my 88 year old grandma asking if I could make ear cuffs a few years ago...I had been twisting wire for a few months or so and making suncatchers and other "fanciful things for magical spaces". When Grandma asked if I could make an ear cuff I decided this was one of the coolest ideas I had heard! I dont have pierced ears, never have never will- but I LOVE danglie things hanging from my ears..ear cuffs have been the perfect solution for me- clip-ons are awful things!

Once in awhile I like to really go boho gypsy and wear LOTS of dangles on one or both ears (usually one, Im weirdly asymmetrical like that), so I came up with these behind the ear wraps that have a dangle at top and bottom.

These are a lot of fun for me to make..I get to do some more traditional bead stringing, and still be gypsy girl organic with my gemstones and stuff.

I was trying to figue out what to call these, and my beloved Ian-master of slightly corny word plays-suggested Bohemian Wraps...because he is a Queen fan, and my maternal ancestors are from Bohemia...and these are just Boho all the way around anyway- it fit, it stuck, and they are now a complete "range" in my shops on Etsy and DaWanda

You can find my Bohemian Wraps in the Ear cuffs section of Thyme2dream Etsy, or click on any photo here to be taken to that individual listing. They are easy to wear, very adjustable, and can be worn with or without earrings..they also work delightfully with my 2 in 1 dangle ear cuffs for a LOT of gypsy dangle action!

And Now for Something Completely Different

(why yes, I AM a Python fan- how did you guess?;-)

Okay, its not completely different...but a bit of a departure from my usual style and genre...its STEAMPUNK !! I have always liked the Jules Verne sort of Victorian industrial style, even before I knew it had an official name...here is the result of my first foray into the world of gears & filigree:

Just in Time for Halloween...

...Or anytime you need to feel like a fairy princess!

I am introducing a new range of simple tiaras and circlets with a much more everyday price...so now you can buy one for each of your children, or for 'I dont know when I'll wear it, but I LOVE tiaras', or buy one to go with each of your favorite faery costumes;-)

These will be available in each of my elven forest colour ranges~ this one coordinates with my Rivendell Spring and Fairy Bower collections...if you want a different colour combination and dont see the one you want listed yet, just contact me!

Joy Bubbles

We had a lovely family picnic at my dad's house this evening. While we were there, my sister (the amazing photographer!) & my nephew helped me get some photos of a new addition to my shop- joy bubble wands.

The term "joy bubbles" is sort of a concept I came up with when I was going through a difficult time in my life and realized that the best way to make it through was to enjoy the little things that could be enjoyed no matter what else was happening. Like little "bubbles of joy" in the midst of trials.

Some days it was harder to find something to smile about, but I remembered reading the truth that Joy from God was a fruit of the Holy Spirit within me, so it was never impossible. The more I looked for them the more the bubbles got bigger and the problems got smaller....joy is a STRONG force in our lives!

The thing about joy is that it is totally different from happiness. Happiness can depend on our mood, depend on our circumstances, depend on the chemical reactions within our bodies, depend on other people, depend on our surroundings..the key thing is it DEPENDS. Joy on the other hand doesn't depend- it just is. Our connection to joy is rooted in the one thing we can control...our REACTION to all the things I just mentioned. Choices are always there waiting to be made...even if its only a little bubble to start with, joy is always there inside waiting to be discovered:)

Danglies n Sparklies n Stuff

(Thanks again to everyone who stopped by the Etsy Trunk Show...we had a lot of fun!) Quick post cos Im still playing catch up...here are some of my new danglie sparklie earcuff designs just listed in my Etsy Shop:

Moonlit Bower 2 in 1 Ear Cuff

Emerald Forest Fairy Ear Cuff Dangle

Bajoran Fairy Earcuff/Earring Combination
So are there fairies on Bajor?
I dunno, but if there are I think they
would wear something like this;)

Autumn Flame Copper & Amethyst Set

October is a beautiful time of year in Kansas. The awful heat of summer has passed, we have deep blue skies, brilliant fiery leaves and crisp cool weather.

In the Flinthills, even our prairie grass changes colours, and we see vast expanses of deep golden-copper hue waving in the south wind. I created these pieces with our gorgeous autumn landscape in mind.

The tiara, necklace and earrings are available currently in my ArtFire Shop. Im thinking I will do an ear cuff and maybe a hair clip as well...if you have another request, feel free to contact me anytime:)

Titania's Dream Earrings

...Or maybe I will end up calling them something else...but for some reason this colour combination makes me think of Titania. They have the very queenly regal splendor of the golden tones but then there is also the hint of magic and rainbows in these colours...so I think they must belong to Titania somewhere in a dream:).

Made to match the "emergency wedding" Tiara, this new set will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

Lorriane's Wedding

Ian finally finished the tiara for his daughter, Lorraine. She is getting married in a Scottish Castle, complete with kilts, bagpipes and maybe even a ghost or two...

Lorraine wanted a sort of goth but not too goth look, and we were delighted to find these gorgeous ivy leaf charms at one of our favorite bead suppliers. Ian worked forever to modify the leaves so they would work in the design, but it was well worth the effort!!

This design also has an optional Celtic Weave band that can be added:

THIS IS NOW AVAILABLE IN MY ETSY SHOP:
Elven Forest Ivy Leaf Tiara

Tiara for A Fairy Bridesmaid

Here is the matching bridesmaid's tiara~ very similar, but with wee fairy flower clusters on the sides instead of matching sprays as in the bride's tiara.

Emergency Weddings

Ian & I are just finishing up an order for 22 tiaras (WOOSH!) for a wedding in California...this one was exciting because they sort of waited til the last minute to order, so we had 2 weeks to finish them all. Hey, we LOVE a challenge..and I love to make people happy, so it was a natural for us! ANYWAY, in the interest of another quick post today, here is a preview of the first tiara:

These are based loosely on my Lothorien Crystal Forest Hair Vine (really more of a spray, but I couldnt call it a hair spray now could I?) and will be available in my Etsy shop soon...we have lots of other tiara designs too, and are always open to custom orders...contact us any time, even in an emergency;)

Elven Forest Autumn Tapestry Collection

I love the first signs of Autumn in the forest...leaves are just beginning to turn, and the deep greens mingle with the sudden red, orange and copper that appears in ever increasing measure as we say goodbye to the year.

Czech glass leaves, swarovski pearls & crystals combine to make this autumn fantasy necklace. The pendant also features a garnet heart and a wee piece of amber for a bit of added magic;)

This necklace is the first in my Elven Forest Autumn collection,to include earrings, ear cuff, bracelet, tiara, hair combs and more. If you would like any of these items before they are listed, just drop me a line!

Sophia's Fairy Woods Collection

I am finally getting some more of the Sophia Fairy Collection designs finished.

I already had an earcuff, and here is the bracelet. Earrings and ring to follow next.

If you would like me to make a tiara, necklace, hair comb or clip in this colour combo, just let me know:)

This collection was named in honor of my new baby niece, Sophia...the pinks remind me of her cute little baby cheeks, and purple is her mum' favorite colour, so these just had to be named after her!

You can see more amazing photos of Sophia and other beautiful stuff at my sister's delightful photography blog: from Snapshot to Fine Art.

For my EC friends~ she's not an EC-er yet, so if you do pop in, please leave her a comment encouraging her to join;)

Arthur Rackham's Faery World

I used to have a big poster of this painting on my wall when I was 16 and all I knew about it then was the caption said "Queen Mab". Many years later when I found it on the web it was entitled "Feeling Very Undancey Indeed," and when I researched it a bit more I discovered it was actually from Arthur Rackham's illustrations for J M Barrie's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.

Ah, so that explains why I loved the painting so much! I love J. M. Barrie~the world has lost way too much of its innocence these days. I work very diligently to hang on to as much of mine as I can~reading Peter Pan every few years is one of my favorite ways to accomplish this.

Queen Mab Tiara by Thyme2dr
According to our beloved Mr Barrie,
dancey is how the faeries say they are happy...so undancey is faerie-folk language for a wee bit dispirited or some such thing. It is Queen Mab, and the reason she is feeling undancey is too long to go into here, but Dover Publications is issuing a new edition of the with Arthur Rackham's original illustrations next month, so you can go and read the story for yourself if you are curious: Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (Dover Children's Classics)

One of the things I love most about Arthur Rackham's illustrations of Queen Mab is the beautiful tones of ivory and burgundy that he used...it seemed only natural when I was asked to create a wedding set in these colours that they should be named after the undancey faery Queen.

When I finished the tiara, I went to find the Undancey picture again and was delighted to see how much it the tiara looked like it belonged to her:)! I also made a hair clip, earrings, two necklaces and am currently working on a bracelet as well. They are my new personal favorites. These are for sale in my Thyme2dream ArtFire .
