New Ear Dreams Ear Cuffs (and a Giveaway)

Sapphire and Ice Ear Dreams Ear Cuff

Ear Cuffs have always been a featured item in my handcrafted jewelry range because I come from a long line of women who never wanted to hassle with getting their ears pierced (but love ear jewelry of all kinds:).  I kinda figured I had exhausted all the ideas for new ways to put things on ears with no piercings, but I recently set aside a block of creativity time and out popped my latest ear cuff / ear wrap- an Art Nouveau inspired design that I am calling the Thyme2dream "Ear Dreams".

Ear Dreams are featured in my new Storenvy shop and at Thyme2dreamWeddings Etsy, We are also featuring them in the booth at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival this fall.

Elegant Easy to Wear Ear Cuff Wraps

Elemental Ear Cuff

A very popular recent addition to our ear cuff range at Renaissance fairs has been this new style Ian created, the Fantasy Ear Wrap cuff.  This wrap style ear cuff  features elegant Czech glass leaves with a double dangle at the bottom. They are very easy to wear, just slip them over the back of your ear and shape to fit...and of course no piercing required!

St Patrick's Day Fun & New Ear Cuffs Listed!

Yes, I actually did it- listed some brand new Bajoran ear cuff designs at Thyme2dream ArtFire this week! Here is a sneak peak- (just click on any photo to visit my shop). The Bajoran cuffs are of course originally inspired by the amazing designs from Star Trek, especially the Deep Space Nine series. The pieces featured on the show are just silver with charms and chains, I made mine with fairies in minde,so they come with leaves and sparklies and lots of color!

I am also having a blast over at Thyme2dream Facebook. I know some people are not fond of the new Facebook Timeline -it takes a bit of getting used to- but there are a lot of new features that I really like! If you havent already, please visit and like my page there. In addition to updates about my shop, I try to post tidbits from around the interwebs that fae folk might find interesting!

The most popular post this week was a link to a DIY Celtic Knot Cookie recipe that I discovered over at a wonderful blog called Sprinkle Bakes. Heather has SUCH a wonderful selection of mouthwatering recipes that I was enchanted the moment I landed there after discovering her on Pinterest. Perfect for St Patrick's Day, or even St Andrew's Day (Scotland has their Saint Day in NOVEMBER- they really need to work on the PR, lol;). Again, click the photo below to visit the post- and tell Heather that Thyme2dream sent you!

Amethyst Crystal Celtic Heart Ear Cuff

I found these beautiful little amethyst hearts the other day at a bead show- perfect for a simple cuff.  I have a limited number of the beads available, so buy soon if you want one:)

Mermaid Garden Collection

New collection coming soon to Thyme2dream ArtFire and Thyme2dreamWeddings on Etsy~ I mixed fanciful turquoise shades with lavender for a shimmery mermaid look. So far I have the Mermaid Garden Hair Pin listed, and will add ear cuff, tiara, necklace, earrings and bracelet in early April!!

Fire Fairy~ Cheery Thought for a Winters Day

The snow is finally melting, but its been foggy and dreary here for several days. Dont get me wrong, I love the fog, but I decided we could all use a bit of sunshine and cheery thoughts! Fire Moon is a lovely fairy we met this past fall at the Des Moines Renaissance Festival...if you look closely you will see she has a sun orange crystal Goddess Ear Cuff to accent all her fiery finery:)

EvenStar Elven Forest Collection is Born

Evenstar (Undómiel in the Elvish tongue) was the name given to Arwen by her grandmother Galadriel..a prophetic name, for she was indeed the Evening Star of her people.

In this new elven forest range, I set the purples & pinks of a twilight sky amidst shimmery starlike crystals and leaves.

These pieces started as a routine custom order, but got out of hand and turned into a whole new jewelry range! I love when that happens!!

So far I only have ear cuff and pendant, but plans are in the works for elven headdress, bracelet, earrings, hair fanices and more..if you would like to order any of those pieces before I list them, just drop me a line.

Under A Violet Moon

I love purple by ANY name..here are a couple of pieces in my new Under a Violet Moon range.

Under A Violet Moon 'Bajoran' ear cuff/earring

As you may have guessed, these pieces are indeed named after the magical Blackmore's Night song (video below;)

Under A Violet Moon Circlet

And just in case you wanted to know what former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore is up to these days (yeah, the Smoke on the Water dude;)... here he is playing Renaissance Rock with the beautiful Candice Night:

Pirates ~ Get Yer Buccan-Ear Wraps Here

Yes I know thats funny~ until you hear Ian say it about 20 times an hour at a Renaissance Festival: "Arrggh Matey's Roll up and get Yer Buccan Earwraps 'ere" (all in a thick Cornish accent, ala Long John Silver from the Disney version of Treasure Island). I suppose its a fitting way to introduce our new ear decor tho- Ian's version of our Bohemian Wraps made especially for Pirates.

Now those of you who have followed my blog for long know that my hubby has a perfectly delightful accent of his own-being a native of Edinburgh Scotland-but after a Renfest or two, he decided he would have more fun using a made up accent, and thats when he chose the Pirates of Cornwall for his inspiration~ "Aye me lover, this baint be no cheap jewels 'ere, only the best for me 'earties" and suchlike...

The Green Havens Ear Wrap

After spending a fest or two selling our regular Boho wraps to lots of folk in Pirate garb, Ian started to dream up designs with Pirate stories behind them, added a little corny play on words and the Buccan-Ear Wraps were born.

"Did you hear about the deaf Pirate?
He had no BuccanEars..."
(bad joke groan here;).

Our Buccan Ear Wrap collection so far includes The Green Havens, Port & Starboard, The Stormy Seas and in honor of our favorite Caribbean Pirates, The Black Pearl.

They are available and ON SALE now in Thyme2dream ArtFire, as well as in Ian's Etsy Shop, Dragon Rider Circlets

OH- and you get a FREE PIRATE JOKE with every listing;-)

An Ear Cuff by Any Other Name

So what exactly IS an ear Cuff, ear vine, Bohemian Wrap??

Whilst getting ready for our first live shows this spring, Ian has been busy making displays and getting our tent ready. In the midst of this, we realised that in order to talk to one another coherently about Thyme2dream ear decor, some of my pieces need better names!

SO~ as of now~ the
Emerald Forest Elven Ear Cuff at left and all cuffs with embellishments that sit on the ear are officially called Ear Vines.

My ever popular simple cuff is still called an ear cuff:) This is one of the first cuff designs I made, and still one of my top sellers.. And YES you can request this one in any Swarovski colour they make~no extra charge! I also have "ear cuffs" with wee gemstone shape beads; hearts, stars, and moons

Then we have the Bohemian Wraps...Ian with his cheeky sense of humour came up with the name for this style a while ago. He is a big Queen fan and thought it would be funny if my ear wraps which are rather boho and gypsy in style were named after Bohemian Rhapsody...I do humor him sometimes;)

So far, these are called 2 in 1 Ear Cuff Dangles..rather a pedantic name, but the idea is there. With this style, the basic ear cuff at top is embellished by the addition of one or more danglie bits. They are "2 in 1" because I make them so they can be worn with or without the dangles..kind of fun!

Barefoot & Stardust

Well okay, its a wee bit too cold for the barefoot part just now, but a while back when trying to explain my fashion sense to someone I came up with this as a contrast to stockings and stilletos (which I am NOT;)...barefoot & stardust really sums it up I think. Anyway, here is the latest result of my love affair with Labradorite (aka "temple of the stars"), my Stardust Labradorite Heart Ear Cuff

I only have a few of these delightful labradorite faceted hearts, so this design will only be available for a limited time..get it while you can;-)

Deck the blogs

I havent had time to decorate my house yet (that usually happens about Christmas Eve at my house) so I decided I would decorate my blog with a few more Christmassy looking items.

This is my newest listing, although not a new design~ Brighid's Yule Crown.

Originally designed at a customer's request, it began life as a costume crown for Jadis the White Witch of Narnia , along with a Unicorn Horn for her miniature horse ...it was a fun project!

Here are couple more items I have in my HOLIDAY SALE section now through Christmas:

Red Fairy Elven Forest Earrings

Red Fairy Elven Forest Ear Cuff

Fairy Delightful Cherry Blossom Ear Cuff

Im a busy little elf this year, so I havent had much time to work on new designs, except when asked by a customer (THANK YOU!!:-)...here is a new creation I made for a customer in Japan to match a fuchsia earring she had. I wasnt too sure about the pink (pink scares me a little bit, but so far my experiences with it have turned out okay, lol) but this one is now my favorite new design:)

Yes- it is available for sale HERE

Breath of Heaven

The Breath of Heaven ear cuff is one of my older designs, but I thought I would feature it because (in case you hadnt noticed;) I love Christmas!!

This ear cuff was originally created to bless a very special Christian wisewoman friend of mine when she became an elder. I was also inspired by a lovely Christmas song called Breath of Heaven, which speaks to me of Mary's transition from Maiden to Mother by the 'breath of heaven'

The design features a Lapis Lazuli drop. Lapis is the sapphire of biblical writings and it is said in Jewish legends that the Torah was given to Moses on tablets of this stone...it has thus come to represent the Word of God and, by association, the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).

I also included garnet to represent redemption, amethyst for the royal priesthood of the believer and a heart of rainbow moonstone to signify Light and the delight of the new covenant announced by the angels as "Peace on Earth".

Spirals were often used in ancient Celtic artwork, and represent journeys of the spirit.

This cuff is still available in my Etsy Shop, but may not be for much longer..I am almost out of the gorgeous moonstone heart beads and havent been able to find a new source for them. (If any of my beady friends know where I can find them please let me know:)

Moonlight Fairy Bower Collection

The fairy bower collection was one I had in my mind for a long time before I actually began to create it. I've almost finished the entire collection, so I thought it would be fun to put it all together in one post! I still want to do a "hair fancy" to go with this grouping, but everything else(including the all important MAGIC WAND;)is now for sale in my Artfire Shop.

The Gypsy Starchild and the Bohemian Wraps

My whole venture into jewelry started with my 88 year old grandma asking if I could make ear cuffs a few years ago...I had been twisting wire for a few months or so and making suncatchers and other "fanciful things for magical spaces". When Grandma asked if I could make an ear cuff I decided this was one of the coolest ideas I had heard! I dont have pierced ears, never have never will- but I LOVE danglie things hanging from my ears..ear cuffs have been the perfect solution for me- clip-ons are awful things!

Once in awhile I like to really go boho gypsy and wear LOTS of dangles on one or both ears (usually one, Im weirdly asymmetrical like that), so I came up with these behind the ear wraps that have a dangle at top and bottom.

These are a lot of fun for me to make..I get to do some more traditional bead stringing, and still be gypsy girl organic with my gemstones and stuff.

I was trying to figue out what to call these, and my beloved Ian-master of slightly corny word plays-suggested Bohemian Wraps...because he is a Queen fan, and my maternal ancestors are from Bohemia...and these are just Boho all the way around anyway- it fit, it stuck, and they are now a complete "range" in my shops on Etsy and DaWanda

You can find my Bohemian Wraps in the Ear cuffs section of Thyme2dream Etsy, or click on any photo here to be taken to that individual listing. They are easy to wear, very adjustable, and can be worn with or without earrings..they also work delightfully with my 2 in 1 dangle ear cuffs for a LOT of gypsy dangle action!

And Now for Something Completely Different

(why yes, I AM a Python fan- how did you guess?;-)

Okay, its not completely different...but a bit of a departure from my usual style and genre...its STEAMPUNK !! I have always liked the Jules Verne sort of Victorian industrial style, even before I knew it had an official name...here is the result of my first foray into the world of gears & filigree:

Danglies n Sparklies n Stuff

(Thanks again to everyone who stopped by the Etsy Trunk Show...we had a lot of fun!) Quick post cos Im still playing catch up...here are some of my new danglie sparklie earcuff designs just listed in my Etsy Shop:

Moonlit Bower 2 in 1 Ear Cuff

Emerald Forest Fairy Ear Cuff Dangle

Bajoran Fairy Earcuff/Earring Combination
So are there fairies on Bajor?
I dunno, but if there are I think they
would wear something like this;)

A Bit of Jewelry in Between

Here is my new Red Fairy Ear Cuff! I love the photo above because my wee garden fairy is holding the cuff, but I know its not the best photo of the actual jewelry...so here is one with my favorite chunk of Sodalite as a prop
